{"id":26924,"date":"2025-10-02T02:34:36","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T06:34:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lollardsociety.org\/?p=26924"},"modified":"2025-10-02T02:34:36","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T06:34:36","slug":"bohemian-reformation-and-religious-practice-symposium-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lollardsociety.org\/?p=26924","title":{"rendered":"Bohemian Reformation and Religious Practice Symposium 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We are pleased to invite proposals for papers for the XV International Symposium on the Bohemian Reformation and Religious Practice, to be held in&nbsp;<strong>Prague on 18\u201319 June 2026<\/strong>, on the theme:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cThe Long Bohemian Reformation, European Universities, and Scholarly Disputations.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The symposium will examine the intersections between the Long Bohemian Reformation and European academic life, with a particular focus on the role of disputations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Suggested topics include but are not limited to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Disputations concerning ecclesiastical, reformist, and religious issues related to the Long Bohemian Reformation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Academic controversies, arguments, and rhetoric surrounding the Long Bohemian Reformation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Underexplored or little-known textual sources of university and gymnasium origin related to the Long Bohemian Reformation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comparative analysis of surviving university and gymnasium manuscripts and prints related to the Long Bohemian Reformation with those from German, French, or British contexts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Academic texts as sources for writings by reformist figures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Negative stances toward universities and gymnasia in the writings of representatives of the Long Bohemian Reformation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The role and manifestations of disputation in promoting reformist ideas within the Bohemian context<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Links of specific universities, academies, gymnasia, and gymnasia illustria to the Bohemian Long Reformation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The impact of curriculum developments on the Bohemian Reformation (e.g. the influence of Melanchthon\u2019s educational reforms via members of the Unity of the Brethren and Bohemian Protestants who studied in Wittenberg or Geneva)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The significance of academic education among reformist figures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reception of the Bohemian Reformation at universities in the 19th and 20th centuries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Links between the (Prague) university reform\/reformers and other late medieval and early modern reform movements (e.g., monastic movements, lay reform).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Submission Guidelines:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please send:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Title and abstract (approximately <strong>200\u2013300<\/strong> words)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Institutional affiliation and contact details to <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"javascript:secureDecryptAndNavigate('znBgLZVC9DHTX6JbPqGEy+JNkJeAjee2XhA2pfE9lgzzoEc\/9bWFQL9LT\/eDoQGM2DqgpXMpBdk8PDLL\/1sc4lXtX0Ajrv+WSWKwOGusiuX3QSwe8w==', '12b7e2e320eae9483d2040be1ca4d12448d49d306db119c6650f03b8a7230a8a')\">bohemian[dot]reformation[at]gmail[dot]com<\/a><\/span><\/strong> by <strong>31 January 2026<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants will be notified of the selection results<strong> by the end of February 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Dates of the symposium<\/em>: 18\u201319 June 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Location<\/em>: Prague, Czech Republic; Academic Conference Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Husova 4a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Languages<\/em>: English, French<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Fees<\/em>: There is no fee for participation in the symposium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Publication of contributions<\/em>: A thematic volume based on the symposium is under consideration and depends on the submitted paper proposals.
